Bars
Unlike my home country America. Anybody can go into a bar and have a drink. My go to is Coke but get whatever you want. Bars here have a great atmosphere. Bars in America have a gloomy feeling or drunk idiots freaking out over sports. Spain’s bars have a happy care – free atmosphere. Families eating seafood tapas for dinner. Co Workers chatting during their break from work. Don’t be surprised when a local recommends eating at a bar! My favorite bar was Hotel Riu. A rooftop bar that gave my friend and I great views of the city.
Madrid Parks
El Retiro
The Spanish version of Central Park. Which is kind of stupid since Retiro was made over 200 years before Central Park. Lots of green make for the perfect place to picnic. Or for a more romantic twist eat on a little boat in the middle of the lake. Make it fun and find somebody to race with. El Retiro park is home to some of my best memories in Madrid.
Food
Best Countries for Foodies
- Japan
- Spain
- Mexico
Portugal was once in my top 3 favorites. But Spain blew it out of the water! No offense to Portugal. They still have the better waves. Spanish food is filled with so much flavor. Pintxos, Squid, and amazing pastries. Madrid is one of the best! An amazing restaurant is right around every corner. I ate at a small restaurant and was introduced to Gazpacho Soup. Estaba muy rico! Great food can be found anywhere in Spain. Especially Madrid!
Shopping
I’m not the type to enjoy shopping. But Spain may have sparked my love for it. I found my favorite clothing brand ever. Blue Banana. A brand focused on traveling the world and being in the Ocean, mountains, and everywhere else. There were streets full of large shops like Zara and others with small little boutiques.
