Avoid Risky Situations
If you watch too much T.V during the night or maybe you eat to much crappy snacks. You know that seeing that juck food sitting on the counter will give you cravings. Binging that T.V show instead of sleeping starts by seeing that T.V in the corner of your room. If you want to destory those habits. Take away the risky situation. Remove the T.V from your room. Move the junk food into the drawer. Even better, get rid of it. If a certin spot leads to a bad habit. Go to a new place or make it different.
Design your environment to help not hurt you.

Replace
Getting rid of a bad habit is great. But if you don’t replace it with something else its easy to fall back into bad habits. Trying to destroy the habit of sitting around and binging Netflix. You can restric yourself to on a small amount of time. Or even delete the service. But now you’re just sitting around with nothing to do. You have to replace it with something else. Like going to the gym. Or a daily walk.
Remove and Replace.

Setbacks are Normal
Fighting bad habits can be a difficult process. One that includes many bumps along the road. The worst thing you can do is be mad at yourself. It makes sense to be sad for a little bit after failure. But if you can’t get back up you might just give up.
Its ok to fail! Failure means you’re trying.
Identify Triggers
When you scan the kitchen and notice that bag of hot cheetos. Thats a trigger. Move that food somewhere where you can’t see it. Even better, if the first thing you do when entering your house is going right to the kitchen. Change it. Next time go to your room and read or exercise downstairs. If you can identify what sets the motions to your bad habit. You can stop it before it even tempts you.
Destroy it before it even comes close.

Buddy
The most effective way is to have an accountability partner. It pushes you to be better. It gives you pressure to not fall back into bad habits. It can be a parent, mentor, or even a friend. Maybe you can find a support group in person or online.
The best part of the journey is the company.
